"Beryl is expected to still be a hurricane when it moves through the Lesser Antilles Sunday night or Monday, and the chance of some islands receiving direct impacts from wind and rainfall are increasing", the National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in Miami said.
"Due to the small size of the hurricane, short-term changes in intensity, up or down, could occur over the next day or two, but Beryl is forecast to remain near hurricane strength as it nears the Lesser Antilles", forecasters warned.
At 11 p.m. Friday, Beryl was located about 890 miles east, southeast of the Lesser Antilles, moving west at 14 mph. Wind speeds are reported at 65 miles per hour, which have slowed down since Friday night, and is moving west to northwest at 14 miles per hour.
With tropical-storm-force winds extending out to 35 miles from the center of circulation and hurricane-force winds extending only ten miles out, Beryl is very compact.
Meanwhile, off the Carolinas, the topical depression that formed on Friday is moving to the north-northwest at 5 miles per hour with winds of 30 miles per hour. "Confidence in the official intensity forecast is also much lower than normal", the National Hurricane Center said early Friday.
