According to the family members, Rodolfo Rodriguez was walking through his neighborhood around 8pm when he accidentally bumped into a young girl as he was trying to get around her, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Rodriguez is a legal US citizen. "There was what appears to be a four-year-old child there who witnessed the entire thing".
The eyewitness said she called the police and asked the mother why she attacked the man, and was told by the mother that Rodriguez had tried to touch her daughter.
The attack was so brutal that Rodriguez was unable to walk after the suspects ran away, and he now suffers a myriad of injuries, including bruised ribs, a broken cheekbone, and head and neck injuries.
Erik Mendoza, the grandson of Rodriguez, set up a GoFundMe for Rodriguez following the attack.
The GoFundMe page for Rodriguez has already doubled its original goal of $15,000.
"He is [doing] very badly, he has many bruises on his face, he has lost his sight in his right eye and he has a broken cheekbone".

One witness told the station she heard the woman say, "Go back to your country, why are you here (other) bad things", to Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a legal U.S. resident, according to Independent.
Rodriguez said he doesn't remember when the woman picked up the concrete block, but he remembers being hit repeatedly.
That's when Rodriguez was reportedly attacked by the toddler's mother on the sidewalk.
Borjas apparently was able to take a picture of the woman as she walked away, and as she was doing so the men returned to beat Rodriguez further.
"And then when one of the witnesses comes out of her auto and starts screaming at her, four other guys come in and start kicking on him", Mendoza told KTLA.
He'll be turning 92 in September, Rodriguez said, and he's never been hurt like this before, in a life working the fields with cattle and corn. The other suspects were said to be four black men between the ages of 20 and 30. "There's no harm that he meant for you to treat him the way you did".
