Playing Fortnite too often has reportedly gone too far for one player with reports emerging that a nine-year-old girl has entered rehab due to her gaming addiction. Apparently, ever since she got the Xbox, Carol's grades began to drop and had trouble staying awake during classes.
The primary school pupil became obsessed with Fortnite, which been downloaded more than 40 million times since it was launched last July. One day, the father found the girl hooked to the game while sitting on a cushion full of urine. "She had fallen asleep twice in lessons and her grades were slipping", said Carol, the girl's mother. "She is in therapy for the addiction after she became withdrawn, agitated and disturbed from playing up to ten hours a day - sometimes playing until dawn, wetting herself so she didn't have to leave the screen".
She added: "This is a serious issue which is destroying our little girl's life and someone needs to step in to ban it before it becomes an epidemic".
After noticing payments totalling £50 per month coming off their credit card to Microsoft, the couple realised the depth of their daughter's addiction. After the girl's father tried to take away the Xbox, she reportedly slapped him across the face for attempting to withdraw the console.

"Over the last two months I've been contacted by dozens of parents with children as young as eight showing signs of addiction to Fortnite", Steve Pope, the therapist working with the young girl, told The Mirror. At the moment, she is following a rehab program and therapy sessions to get rid of Fortnite addiction.
Fortnite's most popular format is the Battle Royale, in which 100 players fight each other until one is left standing.

But her mum said: 'I urge every parent out there to know what this game can do, how it sucks young children in and could ruin lives'.
