A Cessna plane with 10 people on board went missing in Kenyan airspace Tuesday afternoon.
The plane went off radar shortly after taking off from the Kitale airstrip on Tuesday evening.
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the tragic plane crash near Kinangop of a plane leaving Kitale for Nairobi".
A section of the search and rescue team was waiting to be airlifted from Njambini playground to the search zone at 7am.
"May God almighty rest the souls of the departed in eternal peace".
According to Mr. Gitau, the Wednesday morning search commenced in the Kinangopo area at 4 am where the phone signal was located.
There was no clear indication if there are survivors.

The plane had taken off from Kitale, a town in Kenya's west, en route to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the capital, Nairobi, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) said. It is believed they flew into a bad storm.
The missing 12-passenger plane is operated by East Africa Safari Air Express (FlySax), a subsidiary of Fly540.
