Leaders of the G7 group of nations will continue their meeting in Canada today.
Trump's comments come at a time when Trump is on the outs with other members of the G7. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker offered to visit Washington for an assessment of EU-US trade to help resolve the dispute, an official said.
In May, the president announced his administration would impose steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the European Union - all of which announced retaliatory tariffs against the U.S.in recent days.
But the French leader quickly added that Trump can't expect credibility on that file while he undoes all the good work done to date on pushing Iran to abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons.
The leaders of both France and Germany have already stated that they will not sign a joint statement at the conclusion of the summit unless President Trump makes some concessions on key issues, including language related to the nuclear accord with Iran.
- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 7, 2018Prime Minister Trudeau is being so indignant, bringing up the relationship that the USA and Canada had over the many years and all sorts of other things...but he doesn't bring up the fact that they charge us up to 300% on dairy - hurting our Farmers, killing our Agriculture!
Russian Federation should be in this meeting.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during a meeting at the G7 Summit discussed advancements in achieving an agreement for putting the Trans-Pacific Partnership into force, the government of Canada said in a press release on Friday.
Like Trudeau, Trump has sparred publicly with Macron on Twitter over what the US president calls unfair trade deals that impoverish American interests to the benefit of its allies.
"We need the President to be able to distinguish between our allies and adversaries, and to treat each accordingly", he said in a statement.

G7 chiefs have largely praised Mr Trump for his efforts to stabilise the Korean peninsula, but they are unhappy he pulled out of an worldwide agreement to limit Iran's nuclear ambitions. "His preference now, and he asked me to convey this, is to actually negotiate with Mexico and Canada separately", Kudlow said on Fox News on Tuesday.
He called Canadian PM Justin Trudeau "indignant" and took aim at French President Macron as well. "If it doesn't happen, we come out even better!"
Larry Kudlow, Trump's top economic adviser, called the spat a "family quarrel" Thursday.
Before heading off to La Malbaie, in Ottawa, Macron and Trudeau offered an olive branch of sorts by offering Trump a modest measure of support in his historic meeting in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un following the G7 summit.
Another point of contention for President Trump among his G-7 counterparts could be climate change, which is one of the main focal points of the G-7 summit.
The President of the European Council dismissed Mr Trump's leadership a "seasonal turbulence" and predicted the G7 group would prevail despite America's isolationist policies.
The US president had earlier called for Russian Federation - which was suspended from the group in 2014, following Moscow's annexation of Crimea, and made a decision to leave permanently in 2017 - to be readmitted in the interests of realpolitik.
"Until we can have reciprocal relationships, we will not have free trade, and we will not have fair trade", Kudlow said.
"Trump supporters wanted a "disrupter in chief" who would challenge or even overturn the system".
