The news comes just under three weeks after the launch of Season 2 of the series on May 18.
Despite an ill-received sophomore run, 13 Reasons Why has been renewed for a third season. Most of the reviews pointed out that the show had already extended itself too far beyond its initial premise with its second season, but Netflix, cackling in the face of logic and reason, has officially announced that 13 Reasons Why season 3 is coming to the streaming service next year.

Brian Yorkey will be returning as showrunner, along with EPs Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, Joy Gorman, Kristel Laiblin, Tom McCarthy, and Steve Golin, to continue the story of the students at Liberty High.

The new season will be produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Conten for Netflix. While I don't know for sure, I also have to believe this series has to take an emotional toll on the writers, producers and, most importantly, the cast members. That's what we're expecting for 13 Reasons Why season 3, as well.
Usually, there is about a year gap in between seasons of Netflix shows.
The current season left a lot of storylines open like Chloe's pregnancy and what's going to happen to Tyler after being attacked by Monty, which could be explored in the next installment.
