Raptors assistant coach Nick Nurse had been favored to ascended to the team's head coach for a while.
Nurse is finalizing contract terms with Toronto, but met with president Masai Ujiri and general manager Bobby Webster on Tuesday morning to accept the job, sources said.
All three have interesting cases, with Nurse's resume standing as among the most decorated it could be without National Basketball Association head coaching experience, Stackhouse having an incredible first two seasons as a lead coach behind the 905 bench, and Kalamian holding a strong relationship with players and having what would seem to be the proper demeanor for the position.
Toronto's coaching search reportedly had narrowed down to Nurse and San Antonio assistant coach Ettore Messina.

Nurse joined the Raptors five years ago as an assistant and was tasked with overseeing the team's offence alongside Casey. Nurse will be judged on his ability to guide Toronto deeper into the postseason before its core passes its prime. He also won two rings at the minor-league level.
Casey, meanwhile, has already found his next job: with the Detroit Pistons. During his seven-year tenure, Casey went 320-238 (.573). "I know where we started".
