The Moto Z3 Play will be bundled with a 2,000mAh battery Moto Mod. The launch event is scheduled to take place at 9:30 AM EDT, which is 7 PM India time. The smartphone has been subjected to several leaks and rumours and last week it also made its way to the benchmarking site Geekbench. The benchmark listing reveals some hardware specs that the Moto Z3 Play will come packed with. Dual cameras appear for the first time on a Z Play device (the more expensive Z2 Force did sport them previous year, though), with a primary 12MP low light sensor complemented by a 5MP depth sensor. Z3 Play will come with a tall display, meaning the phone will include an aspect ratio of 18:9 which is seen in nearly all recently launched phones.
The Moto Z series is a phone like no other: its rear plate is magnetic and detaches so that Moto Mods can be added to give the phone different features and capabilities. The fingerprint sensor is moved to the side because the phone's chin is smaller and Moto Mods rule out a presence on the back. In the USA, you'll get the phone unlocked for $499 (about £370) along with a battery Mod.

The display of the Moto Z3 Play is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3, with the overall package offering p2i splash resistance, meaning it will be fine in rain but shouldn't end up underwater in any scenario. Dual-Pixel autofocus is available, as well as the dual-tone LED flash. Speaking of which, the Z3 Play will also be compatible with all the Moto Mods. In addition, the Moto Z3 Play could ditch a 3.5 mm headset jack. To make space for that, the fingerprint sensor has been side-mounted. It uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 chip with 4GB of RAM, and there will be 32GB or 64GB of storage depending on the model.
Like other Moto devices, the Z3 Play also runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with minimal touches from Motorola. The Z2 Play was a minor upgrade over the Moto Z Play, but that's not the case this year. We have all that we now know about those details right here, and will update this post with more information as it is released by Motorola and its supporting carriers.
