In its latest move, Microsoft announced last weekend that its army of staffers actively contributing to Microsoft Answers won't provide support and assistance for the following products across different forums, starting next month.
Microsoft agents will still moderate the forums to remove spam and other undesirable messages from the forums but they won't interact with users anymore when it comes to providing technical support. The company continues to welcome the use of its community forums to ask questions from each other as long as you don't expect answers from Microsoft moderators. For Windows 8.1, the extended support will terminate on January 10, 2023. Support for the following products is being discontinued across various forums in the Microsoft Answers community.
Customers are still able to get paid support from Microsoft through to the end of the extended support periods. The news is rough for those with older products but it hints that Microsoft is obviously positioning its staff for only supporting newer devices and products moving forward. Support that was previously available in the Mobile devices forum will continue in the Other Windows mobile devices topic.
