The tweetstorm is the latest fallout from a bad-tempered G7 summit in Quebec, Canada, in which the President found himself at odds with numerous leaders present, largely over his planned tariffs on a range of goods, including steel and aluminum.
Instead, Canada will likely issue a chair's summary of the meeting listing the major topics of discussion. They accused Trudeau of betraying Trump and stabbing him in the back. The president could mean exactly what he says: that the steel and aluminum tariffs are a direct, tit-for-tat response to Canadian dairy tariffs.
The blowup drew rebukes from nearly every other member of the G7 - a group containing the United States, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan - and raised the possibility for more back-and-forth trade restrictions.
Trudeau triggered Trump´s fury when he said that citing USA national security interests as justification for slapping tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum exports was "insulting".
Soon after Trump left the G7 summit he tweeted that he had instructed the House of Representatives not to endorse the final communique of the G7 summit due to Trudeau's "false statements at his news conference", as the Canadian prime minister dismissed U.S. metal tariffs as "insulting" and announced retaliatory measures. The president also repeated claims that Canada overtaxes American dairy products under its supply management system and complained about Canadian automobiles flooding the USA market.
US President Donald Trump on Monday continued his vitriolic attacks on several close allies in the wake of his early departure from an unusually discordant G7 meeting in Canada, which saw him withdraw US support for a joint communique.
Earlier this year, the USA imposed a 25% tariff for steel and 10% for aluminium on imports from the EU, Canada, and Mexico.
"I have made it very clear to the President that it is not something we relish doing, but it something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.
Spokesman Cameron Ahmad said on Saturday night that Mr Trudeau "said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public and in private conversations" with Mr Trump.

Trump, Trudeau swap jokes but hold firm in trade dispute
The White House initially said that Trump's meeting with Trudeau was "great" and the leaders were "close to a deal" on trade. Canada's foreign minister, Chrystia Freeland, said her country "does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks".
In one behind-the-scenes account from the G7, a French presidential official described an "extraordinary" session in which leaders surrounded Trump and showered him with data one after the other in an attempt to sway him to drop USA tariffs.
"We will always stand up for Canadian workers, their jobs & their livelihoods", he said.
This photo provided by the German Government Press Office, shows German Chancellor Angela Merkel talking with U.S. president Donald Trump on the sidelines of the official G7 meeting.
It was a ' long litany of recriminations, somewhat bitter reports that the United States was treated unfairly, ' said the French official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. 'It was a hard time, rough, very frank'.
"Trump mentions Canada again in a couple more tweets about trade on June 4 - "...
Last June, Twin Rivers Paper told the Trump administration that its April 2017 decision to impose stiff import duties on Canadian softwood put thousands of jobs in ME in jeopardy.
He has striven to keep the nice-boy-next-door image even during the current diplomatic crisis, refusing to respond in kind to the personal jabs by Trump and his aides, and asked ministers to hit back without going below the belt. It's also possible that he's implying the steel and aluminum tariffs are a negotiating tactic-something he's using as leverage to get Canada to ease up on the import taxes it charges for American milk.
'This isn't just G7.
"But the conclusion I draw is that it is only through continued dialogue that we can find ways to work together to resolve the challenges we face". Or we'll stop trading with them'.
