The live-action Aeon Flux takes place in a futuristic dystopian state and centers around the titular acrobatic assassin Aeon Flux, who partners with a rag-tag crew of biohacking scoundrels in efforts to save humanity. Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd, who was also attached to the 2005 film, will produce the Aeon Flux reboot as well.
MTV, as it would eventually do for fellow Liquid Television-grown Beavis And Butt-Head, gave Aeon Flux its own series after its initial six segments, with five short episodes serving as "season 2, ' followed by a 10-episode run of half-hour episodes in 1995 ('season 3").

Sadly, the Aeon Flux movie was a disaster, both critically and at the box office.
Aeon Flux may be returning to MTV.
Created by animator Peter Chung, Aeon Flux was first introduced to the world in 1991 as an avant-garde six-part sequence of shorts that was featured in MTV's Liquid Television experimental animation series. Produced by MTV Films and directed by Karyn Kusama, the film had an impressive cast that included Theron and Frances McDormand, but couldn't eke out either a critical or commercial victory. The film grossed $52.3 million globally, falling short of its $62 million production budget. This new report also reveals that MTV is getting ready to launch a new studio entirely devoted to monetizing the rest of its library of properties. Is this a good move by MTV, or are they setting themselves up for failure?
