Aeon Flux is heading back to the small screen, as MTV has set a reboot of the 1990s animated series from former Teen Wolf showrunner and The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. Chung's distorted figures performing acrobatic stunts in skimpy leather outfits, weird futuristic architecture, zero dialogue, and ending every short by killing the protagonist in some brutal way, was unlike anything that was on the air before or largely since, and, after Charlize Theron and director Karyn Kusama tried to make it a film franchise in 2005, the cartoon is coming back to live action. Hurd produced the 2005 feature film, but was not involved with the original animated series.
Aeon Flux started out as as a series of six experimental animated shorts that aired during MTV's "Liquid Television" animation showcase in 1991.
Aeon Flux takes place in the future, at a time when only two cities have survived a global disaster. This new report also reveals that MTV is getting ready to launch a new studio entirely devoted to monetizing the rest of its library of properties. It wasn't until 1995 that a ten-episode half hour long animated series was released.

MTV is developing a live-action reboot series of Aeon Flux, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 9 percent. Hopefully the biohacking includes cloning, because having the protagonist creatively bite it every time a new short ran really was part of the fun. The first few seasons of Teen Wolf were actually quite good, and set up the supernatural series to be this generation's answer to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
