A video showing police officers wrestling a woman to the ground and punching her in the head on a Wildwood beach has sparked backlash online.
Cellphone video shows a police officer repeatedly punching a woman in the head while trying to subdue her on Wildwood Beach on May 26, 2018. "I told them I wasn't drinking and the alcohol was clearly closed/sealed, which the cops seen".
"I asked them don't they have something better to do as cops than to stop people for underage drinking on the beach", the Facebook post reads, and that's when Weinman claims an officer said, "I was gonna let you go but now I'll write you up".
Ms Weinman took to Facebook to give her account over the incident at Wildwood Beach. She ended the post by saying she was "over here with a sore body, banging headache and the thought of ever trusting a police officer again if anything were to happen in the future". She then kicked the officer in the genitals and ran off.
Police Chief Robert Regalbuto said that despite the content of the video being of an "alarming" nature, he does not want to give judgement on the incident until having the final results of the investigation. "Later, she added, "...we got Breathalyzed, and it came back negative".
City of Wildwood Police Department confirmed an internal investigation was underway into this matter and the involved officers had been reassigned to administrative duty pending the outcome of a full and thorough investigation.

Emily Weinman, W/F, 20 years old of Philadelphia was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer (2 Counts), Aggravated Assault by Spitting Bodily Fluids at/on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction and Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
She said the encounter soon turned ugly, however, after one of the officers began following her as she walked away to make a phone call.
Weinman conceded she should have given police her name, writing, "I was partly wrong in a way".
She admitted to repeatedly refusing the officers' requests to give them her name, and said when they approached to handcuff her she tripped and cops tackled her. Witnesses can be heard pleading with her to stop resisting the officers.
Weinman reportedly did not mention the criminal charges in her Facebook post.
When questioned on whether the officers used excessive force against Weinman, Troiano said he could not comment because he didn't know all the facts. "I wasn't there. I don't know".
