The teacher who tackled a shooter at Noblesville West Middle School and swatted the gun away was identified by numerous parents and students as seventh grade science teacher and middle school football coach Jason Seaman.
The teacher "immediately ran at him, swatted a gun out of his hand and tackled him to the ground", according to seventh-grader Ethan Stonebraker.
UPDATE (2:11 p.m. ET): A student witness says a science teacher tackled the shooter to the ground. Stonebraker adds, "if it weren't for him, more of us would have been injured for sure".
"We need to get it right", Barnes said.
In a post on Twitter Indiana Police officer John Perrine said the suspect has since been taken into custody and the families of the victims have been notified.
Police say the teen victim was transported to Riley Hospital for Children, and the teacher was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital. She said no information was available on their conditions.
The attack comes a week after an attack at a high school in Santa Fe, Texas, that killed eight students and two teachers. "She's highly involved in school".
Police said there was a "secondary threat" made at Noblesville High School, but police said a command post had been established there to protect the school, and there was no danger.

Noblesville is about 25 miles north of Indianapolis and has a population of about 60,000.
An eighth-grader said he counted 16 gunshots inside the middle school during the shooting. The school's academic year was scheduled to end next Friday.
Vice President Mike Pence tweeted, "Karen and I are praying for the victims of the bad shooting in Indiana".
