Yadav said the BJP carried out a coup in Bihar a year ago to dislodge the grand alliance government and the governor wrongfully invited the BJP-JD (U) combine to form the government ignoring the claims of the RJD despite its status as a single largest party.
Seeking adoption of the Karnataka example in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy CM of the state said the party would be holding a one-day dharna tomorrow against the "murder of democracy in Karnataka". "We request Her Excellency to follow big brother Karnataka governor and invite the Congress to form the Goa government and rectify a wrong", Congress state president Girish Chodankar told reporters.
With the Karnataka Governor inviting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the single largest party to emerge in the recently-concluded state elections, to form the new government, opposition parties in Bihar, Goa, Meghalaya, and Manipur are now demanding dissolution of BJP governments in their respective states saying if the "single largest party" rule applies to form a government in Karnataka then it should be applied to other states as well. Addressing a press conference, he said, "We are not only single largest party but single largest block of pre-poll alliance in Bihar".
In Goa's 2017 assembly election, Congress was the single-largest party with 21 seats in the 40-seat assembly, however, it was the BJP through a post-poll alliance that ended up forming the government, In Bihar, the RJD was the single-largest party with 80 seats in the 243-seat assembly in the 2015 assembly election, but it ended up in the opposition.
The Governor's decision has triggered a controversy as the Congress and the JD (S), which have joined hands after the poll results, were not invited to form the government despite having the simple majority (113). The BJP, which got 14 seats, formed the government in alliance with Goa Forward Party and MGP, both of which had secured three seats each.
The BJP's Goa unit dismissed the Congress demand as an "act of frustration".
Yadav, who is the younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, is set to meet Governor Satya Pal Malik with this demand on Friday noon. The governor but invited the BJP to form the government. When pointed out that the Congress needs support of at least 21 legislators to stake the claim, he said that once the governor swears in the Congress chief minister, he will be able to prove his majority on the floor of the House. "We have 16 legislators with us and with that strength we are the single largest party in the (Goa) Assembly. We are in majority in Goa as well as Bihar".
The BJP-led government in Goa is headed by Manohar Parrikar, who is now undergoing treatment in the U.S. for a pancreatic ailment.
The move comes at a time when Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar has been away for medical treatment for over two months, leaving the state without an active CM and making everyone from the allies to the opposition members restless.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
