After news broke that Morgan Freeman's dulcet tones would be heard on announcements for public transit in Vancouver, a number of Edmontonians were quick to start an online brainstorming session to figure out which famous voice should be heard on the LRT.
"In light of information we've learned this morning of allegations regarding actor Morgan Freeman, TransLink has made a decision to pause his voice announcements", the statement said.
Vancouver's transit system has announced plans to pull a public announcement campaign that used Morgan Freeman's voice following allegations of sexual assault which surfaced Thursday.
TransLink is the first Canadian transit authority to offer credit card and mobile payment throughout its system, which has 50 million monthly riders.
In addition, VISA has discussed removing all of its ads that feature the oscar-winner throughout the transit system.Читайте также: SpaceX's Elon Musk Proposes Media Company That Rates Journalists. Is He Serious?
Several spots in Visa's "Everywhere you want to be" campaign that use Freeman's voice, including "Party" and "Banana Boat", are now airing, according to iSpot.
"I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected - that was never my intent", the actor said.
Drews emphasized that the announcements were ads that VISA had bought from TransLink, and not an initiative from TransLink itself.
Freeman narrated a series of online ads posted on the credit card company's YouTube page touting the new "tap-to-pay" feature, sharing local trivia and reminding riders about transit etiquette.
On Thursday morning, actor Seth Rogen, who was born in Vancouver, tweeted he is available to take over the job.
CNN says Freeman's spokesperson did not respond to several requests for comment.
Some of Freeman's announcements will include "Good news, Vancouver".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
