A male subject is in custody after allegedly firing a gun at a police officer at Dixon High School. Dixon High School has been evacuated.
The incident happened about 8 a.m. Wednesday inside the school at 300 Lincoln Statue Drive, according to Danny Langloss, the Dixon city manager. Preliminary investigation shows the suspect shot at the police officer, the officer returned fire, and the suspect was injured.
The suspect is now custody and receiving medical treatment, according to the statement.
The suspect was arrested and being treated for his injuries.
The school remained on lockdown as of 9:20 a.m Wednesday.

Students were originally taken to the nearby Armory following the incident and are being bused to the baseball field. Parents can arrive there to pick up their child, and must have an ID to do so.
