The attention of the Honourable Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole has been drawn to a Press briefing addressed by the President of National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr. Ugochukwu Chinaka, in which members of JOHESU are accused of harassing and molesting members of NARD and other medical officers at their respective duty posts.
Meanwhile the minister of labour and Employment, Chris Ngige who chaired the meeting however advised doctors under the Nigerian medical association to be cautious in interrupting and meddling with the ongoing discussions between the health workers and the government to allow for a more peaceful and generally acceptable resolutions.
He was quoted as saying: "Negotiations are still on with JOHESU and the Minister of Labour is leading the negotiation, and we expect that we will conclude on all issues very soon".
Already, the doctors have threatened to go on strike if the federal government accedes to some of JOHESU's demands on the ground that it violates its earlier agreement with the government.
The federal government has directed all heads of medical institutions to provide adequate security for the working members of staff to prevent harassment and molestation by members of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU).
