Last night, after a torrential downpour that felt downright cinematic, Candice Bergen joined costars Don Johnson and Mary Steenburgen for a screening of their new movie Book Club and an after-party at Omar's, hosted by the Cinema Society and the Swiss chocolatier Lindt.
Book Club is in theaters on Friday. Bergen brings an earnest, comedic charisma to an otherwise underwritten role as she fumbles around online dating service Bumble - this includes a hilarious scene in which she accidentally posts a profile pic of her mortified, skin-mask-clad face.
Ellen, who has been married to actress Portia De Rossi since 2008, earned a huge laugh by saying: 'Well, it's not my cup of tea, you know'. This past February she told Ellen DeGeneres her sex life is non existent (which is kinda what "Book Club" is about) then imagined getting it on with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Even Sharon's former husband (Ed Begley Jr.) and his much-younger fiancée (Mircea Monroe) are treated with more kindness than scorn. But Diane's dynamic with her two overprotective daughters (Alicia Silverstone and Katie Aselton), who want to move their aging mama to their basement like the helpless senio they seem to think she is, dampens her subplot into something silly, especially when the two worlds collide.

Elton John Will Be Performing At Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding!
As you may know, Elton and Diana were close friends who worked together to raise money for AIDS research and awareness. The singer was a close friend of Harry's mum Diana and famously sang Candle in the Wind at her funeral in 1997.
Diane Keaton won't be indulging in novels about Christian Grey anytime soon.
Steenburgen's Carol gets the least characterization of the bunch. "Why can't I be Andy Garcia?". "Book Club" just might be the best adaptation of that book series yet.
