The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday that they will retire the No. 34 of Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas during the team's Monday Night Football clash with the New England Patriots on October 29.
Thurman Thomas wore the number 34 during his time with the team. I couldn't have done this without the fans. Knowing that you were walking out on the football field and the fans felt the same way you felt, that whatever team we were getting ready to play, they were going to get their butt whooped. You can be on the road in Miami, or New England, or NY and still see Buffalo Bills fans everywhere, so I think that makes it a little bit more special.
Yes, it has taken this long for the Bills to do something you'd assume had been done years ago.Читайте также: Shenmue 3 Has Been Delayed
"I've never been a guy who talks so much about honors and awards and things like that, but when the opportunity came for the Pegulas to discuss this and having the opportunity to have your jersey retired, it came into the back of my mind that, you know, it's possible that they could do it", Thomas said. He's the only player in NFL history to lead the league in yards from scrimmage for four straight seasons.
Thomas will become the third player to have his number retired. Former quarterback Jim Kelly (No. 12) and defensive end Bruce Smith (No. 78) are the others.
Thomas played a major role on a Bills team that appeared in the Super Bowl on four consecutive occasions in the early 1990s.
He was a star at Oklahoma State, as well.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
