Plusnet seems to be left to plough its own furrow for the most part, but it has been confirmed that mobile users will get an app for account management, which has been bewilderingly missing thus far, partly as the brand prides itself on doing everything with real people (by-'eck).
Crucially the new 'Best Connected' plan is not a simplistic bundling of services, it's much more radical than that and will play to the strengths of both BT's fixed line ADSL, FTTC, FTTP network and EE's mobile (4G / 5G) infrastructure in order to provide "seamless connectivity" via a smart converged network by 2022 (supported by hybrid technology to dynamically combine both sides). It is also launching supplier-agnostic support for smart home devices through partnerships with the likes of Hive, Google, Apple Homekit and Alexa.
In keeping with this BT will launch two new products so that customers "never again have to think or worry about which network they're connected to" (assuming you've ever felt a need to "worry" about such things - we haven't) - the BT Plus service and the Keep Connected Promise.
BT is launching its new BT Plus plan next week which brings together home broadband, mobile and Wi-Fi capabilities into one converged plan, with one simple bill.
EE is also showcasing a prototype for a new category of converged broadband - EE Hybrid Broadband technology.
Marcus Smart calls out JR Smith for 'dirty' play
Smith got a flagrant one. "That's not why I'm here", Smith said , per ESPN's Dave McMenamin . "I blatantly pushed him", he said. Needless to say, it was an extremely ill-advised decision by Smith, not to mention a risky play and a selfish play at that.
Italy's 5-Star, League struggle to reach government pact
Mr Di Maio said: "The draft changes so quickly that I don't read the updates anymore". That would undermine the government and parliament.
Google is being investigated in Australia for allegedly collecting customer data
Australian Privacy Foundation's head David Vaile noted that many mobile plans offer customers a few gigabytes of mobile data. Google's privacy documents already state that when an Android user turns on Google Maps, then the location data is tracked.
Marc Allera, chief executive of EE, was anointed CEO of the BT Consumer business past year, that brought together EE with the existing consumer division to create the £10bn integrated mobile, broadband and pay-TV outfit. "Positioned as a premium offering, it is a modest start but we expect more competitive offers to emerge".
Allera said the firm is building a "single core network" meant to support a wider range of converged products will be ready by 2020 across BT's fixed and mobile assets. BT Plus customers will benefit from the fastest speeds from BT on broadband and mobile. From 2019, customers will be able to access Amazon Video as well as Netflix and Now TV, giving a huge offering.
Last week, the former state monopoly said it will slash 13,000 jobs, having reported flat or declining sales in all areas of its business - except in BT Consumer, with revenues up 3 per cent to £5bn and EE, where sales increased 4 per to £5.3bn. "More importantly the new structure and strategy provides better clarity on the future direction of the consumer segment which has been in limbo for some time".
Marc Allera said the company would offer customers faster internet speeds, more TV content and bring its call centres back to Britain and Ireland by 2020. BT will be the first major UK TV platform to offer Prime Video through its set top boxes, allowing Prime Members to access thousands of TV episodes and movies, including award-winning Prime Originals and exclusive series like The Grand Tour, The Man in the High Castle, Lucifer, and Vikings. "We are a very big company, but I want us to feel local", said Allera.
The new converged services will be branded BT Plus and are scheduled for commercial launch next week.
